Who we are
Stellar Scoops (www.stellarscoops.com) is an independent publication about ice cream. You can reach us at contact@updates.stellarscoops.com.
What is collected, and by whom
Three things are collected. That is the complete list.
1. Hosting and request logs
Cloudflare hosts the site and serves its pages. Like any web host, its servers record technical details of each request. These include:
- Your IP address
- The time of the request
- The page you asked for
- Your browser’s user agent
- The page that referred you
These logs are kept for a short time. They are used for security, abuse prevention and keeping the site reliable.
2. Cloudflare Web Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool. It loads a small script, called a beacon, and it does not use cookies.
It counts page views. It reports, in aggregate, things like:
- Which page was viewed
- The referring site
- The country
- The browser and device type
We use it to see which pages people read. We do not use it to track anyone across sites.
3. Email you send us
If you write to contact@updates.stellarscoops.com, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. Mail to that address is handled by our email delivery provider, which acts as our data processor.
We use your message only to read it and reply. We do not add you to any list.
What the site does not have
- No accounts or sign-ins
- No newsletter or mailing list
- No forms of any kind, so no contact form, comment form or sign-up form
- No advertising, and no advertising or tracking cookies
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Calculators
The site has a set of calculators. They run in your browser, and the numbers you type into them are not sent to our server.
The hosting logs and analytics described above still apply to every page view, including pages with calculators.
Your choices and requests
Deleting an email thread
Email contact@updates.stellarscoops.com from the same address you used before, and tell us which thread you mean. We will delete our copy of that thread and confirm by reply.
Blocking analytics
You can block the analytics script with a browser setting or an extension. The site works the same without it.

FAQ
Does Stellar Scoops use cookies?
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The analytics tool we use, Cloudflare Web Analytics, does not use cookies.
Can I use the site without being counted in analytics?
Yes. You can block the analytics script with a browser setting or an extension, and the site works the same. Cloudflare still keeps its hosting request logs, because those are part of serving any page.
If I email you, will I end up on a mailing list?
No. We do not have a mailing list or newsletter. We use your message only to read it and reply.
How long do you keep request logs?
Cloudflare keeps request logs for a short time for security, abuse prevention and reliability. We do not give a specific number of days here.
Are the numbers I type into a calculator sent anywhere?
The calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type into them are not sent to our server.
